Irrationalism comes in all Shapes and Sizes
Last night I engaged in two different discussions online. One was with a prolifer from twitter. The other was with an Objectivist from http://www.objectivismonline.net/
The common denominator among them was a total willingness to discuss a topic, and form opinions and judgments, when they had no real grasp of the subject. In both cases I offered article for education. In both cases I was turned down. How is the same exact response possible from a mystical prolifer and a supposed arch-advocate of reason?

Even with evidence she admitted that she would not concede to being proven wrong.
Next is the Objectivist. We were discussing Relationships and attraction.

Amazing. Im the jerk for pointing out that HE doesnt have any idea what he is talking about.

Well, when you offend someone it’s essentially a threat to their identity. I don’t know about the second case but in the first case, with the pro-lifer, there’s no reasoning with them. Their love affair with the fetus is based in religion (it’s okay to judge others), fear, and they feel justified because they have a majority in politics who share their skewed views to back them up.
I know my comment didn’t help much and that it was more of a verbal head shake, lol.
Sadly, I had a huge numbers of duscussions/arguments with believers and always ended with me feeling frustrated because – as we say in Italy – there is not worse blind than whom who doesn’t want to see
