    Hello again,

I got through all of your posts and see you’ve been at this a while. Unfortunately, you’ve been at it for so long that some of the links from your earlier posts are now broken. No problem though. Your posts (sans links) and your Mission Statement are enough for me to understand your purpose for this blog. Obviously, I don’t agree with your characterization of Christianity. What you describe does not represent my faith at all. Featuring the lunatic fringe of those who claim to be Christian is about as fair as me comparing you to the atheist troll who left the unkind comment on my YouTube video. I wouldn’t do that unless you proved that you deserved it. ;)

You mentioned that you have a Christian friend. I hope that he gives you a better perspective on what it means to be a Christian than the people you profile in your posts. Although I do understand why you pick the worst examples you can find. If I wanted to make it my mission to discredit atheists, I would certainly look for the worst of your lot. But I would probably feel a little guilty that I was being purposely deceptive.

Anyway, I subscribed to your blog and look forward to reading your next post. I’ll also check out your blogroll for more “education”.

Thank you for your post, Phil, and thank you for alerting me to the broken links. I have now gone through them, and either found an alternate source for those posts, or removed them entirely.

When I write about religion, I do not deal with the moderates, who i find are inconsistent with their own religious teachings. Instead, I attempt to find the most consistent examples of any particular sect, which is admittedly difficult given the contradictory nature of most religious teachings. (Like, thou shalt not kill, and then the many, many examples in the old testament where god then commanded people to kill.)

I would also like to mention that I don’t have a particular prejudice against Christianity. I oppose faith in epistemology as a means to knowledge, and altruism in ethics as a proper guide to human action. Many, many ideology’s subscribe to these idea’s, including Christianity. It it just a matter of circumstance that I am from the “bible belt” of the United State, and find that Christianity is the most espoused and influential here. Perhaps, if I was from New York, my blog would be about the evils of multi-culturalism and environmentalism.
